Executive Summary

Key takeaways: what you'll get from this guide

  • What Made 4 Tradies $50 a month maintenance includes in plain English (and what it does not)
  • How it differs from hosting alone, DIY updates, and $500+ a month agency retainers
  • The 4-day turnaround on text and photo changes and what counts as in-scope
  • When maintenance is worth it vs when you should run the site yourself
  • How the first month free on a new build fits in

Website maintenance here means ongoing work after your site is live: keeping it online, updating phone numbers and photos, watching for downtime, and giving you a simple read on traffic and enquiries. It is not a second website build every month.

Made 4 Tradies builds are yours to own. Maintenance is an optional add-on at $50 a month (see what the maintenance plan includes). No lock-in to us for hosting after go-live unless you choose it.

If you are still comparing build options, start with how much a tradie website should cost in 2026. This post is for tradies who already have (or are about to get) a site and want to know what the monthly fee actually buys.

What Is the $50 a Month Maintenance Plan?

It is a managed upkeep plan for tradie sites we built. You keep owning the domain and site. We handle the technical rhythm so you stay on the tools.

On our pricing page we keep the public list short on purpose. Tradies care about three things:

  1. Unlimited text and photo changes (not full rebuilds or new pages)
  2. Uptime monitoring so we know if your site goes down before you do
  3. Google Analytics access so you can see traffic and leads without learning a dashboard stack

Behind those three promises, the work includes hosting, SSL and DNS handled, form spam filtering, security updates, Google Search Console checks, and a monthly email snapshot of sessions, top searches, form submissions, and uptime.

First month free applies with any new build tier (check current pricing for bundle wording).

What Is Included (In Scope)

You ask forWhat we doTypical turnaround
New mobile number, email, hoursUpdate site + check Google Business Profile alignment if you are on maintenanceWithin 4 business days
Swap hero or gallery photoReplace image, compress for mobile speedWithin 4 business days
New testimonial or review quoteAdd to reviews blockWithin 4 business days
Tweak service blurb or FAQ lineUpdate copyWithin 4 business days
"Site looks broken on my phone"Investigate and fixUrgent if down
Quiet month, no changesUptime checks, monthly email reportAutomatic

Unlimited means reasonable tradie-sized requests, not a full rebrand every month. One email or text with what changed is enough. You do not need to log into anything unless you want to.

We run an end-of-month health pass (site up, forms working, analytics firing, structured data still valid) before your snapshot goes out. That is the same checklist we use after go-live, adapted for ongoing clients.

What Is Not Included (Out of Scope)

These are quoted separately so the $50 plan stays honest and sustainable:

  • New pages (extra service page, suburb page, campaign landing page)
  • New sections or layout changes (colour rebrand, moving the whole homepage around)
  • Blog posts or content marketing beyond small copy edits
  • New integrations (booking systems, payments, extra CRM wiring)
  • Full site rebuild or migration from another platform

Rule of thumb: if it is editing what exists, it is in. If it is building something new, it is a one-off quote.

Agencies often bundle vague "SEO retainers" at $400 to $2,500+ per month with unclear deliverables. Our maintenance is deliberately narrow: keep the site working and update what tradies actually change (phone, photos, hours, services list).

How Does $50 a Month Compare to Your Other Options?

ApproachMonthly costYour timeBest when
Do nothing$0 to usZero until something breaksRarely wise if you depend on your website for work
DIY hosting + self-edits~$0 to $30 hostingYou update it yourself or email us when neededYou enjoy admin and have time
M4T maintenance$50Near zero for routine updatesYou want one message and it is done
Freelancer on retainer$150 to $500+Medium (chasing, briefing)You already trust one person
Agency SEO retainer$400 to $2,500+Low, but opaque deliverablesBig marketing budget, not most sole tradies

A single extra $400 job a year from a site that stays fast and trustworthy covers the maintenance fee. The real cost of DIY is often weekend hours and missed calls when mobile speed slips or your old number is still on page two.

Compare build-vs-ongoing totals in the tradie website cost guide. Compare lead platforms in is hipages worth it: $50 a month owned vs $200 to $600 a month rented leads.

When Should You Pay for Maintenance?

Maintenance is a good fit if:

  • You will not log in to update the site and want one inbox for changes
  • Your phone number, services, or photos change a few times a year
  • You rely on Google search or Maps and cannot afford silent downtime
  • You want a simple monthly read on traffic and form enquiries without learning Analytics

You can skip it if:

  • You are happy using Tina /admin for small edits yourself
  • Your site is a stable single page and rarely changes
  • You have a tech-literate mate who will patch hosting (get the login details in writing)
  • Cash flow is tight right after go-live (run DIY for six months, add maintenance later)

Going out on your own? Pair maintenance with a proper launch plan in first customers when going solo. Established and referral-heavy? See when word of mouth is not enough before you treat "set and forget" as forever.

Action: If you are unsure, book a call and we will say straight whether DIY is enough for your trade and suburbs.

How Do You Request a Change?

  1. Email or message the intake address we give you at onboarding
  2. Say what to change ("new number 04xx", "swap hero to this photo", "add this review")
  3. We confirm if it is in-scope, ship within 4 business days, and reply when live

For emergencies (site down), say so in the subject line. Uptime monitoring usually alerts us first.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does Made 4 Tradies $50 a month maintenance include?

Unlimited in-scope text and photo updates (within a 4 business day turnaround), uptime monitoring, Google Analytics access, hosting, SSL and DNS management, form spam protection, security updates, and a monthly email snapshot of traffic, searches, and form submissions. New pages and redesigns are quoted separately.

Is website maintenance mandatory after a build?

No. The build is yours. Maintenance is optional. You can host and edit yourself with zero ongoing fee to us. Many tradies add maintenance when they want changes done for them.

How fast are content updates on the maintenance plan?

In-scope text and photo changes are handled within 4 business days of a clear request. Site-down issues are treated as urgent.

Can I cancel website maintenance?

Yes, with notice per your service agreement (typically 30 days after any initial term). You keep your domain and website.

What is not covered by the $50 maintenance plan?

New pages, new sections, full redesigns, new integrations, and ongoing content marketing are out of scope and quoted as one-offs. Full rebuilds are a separate project.

Is $50 a month maintenance the same as SEO?

No. Maintenance keeps the site healthy and updated. Ranking growth still depends on reviews, Google Business Profile, service and suburb pages, and time. See how long SEO takes for tradies.

Do I get Google Analytics with maintenance?

Yes. We set up Analytics on managed builds and include access plus a monthly snapshot email. You can log in anytime; many tradies only read the summary.

Is the first month of maintenance really free?

Yes on new builds as on our pricing page: first month (or longer bundle) free with a build tier. Confirm the current offer there before you sign.
